Bangalore 2012

"People that are meant to be together, always find their way in the end." I left for Bangalore. Me and Arpita used to spend long enough on text chats and Facebook messages. We were getting close. Her dates were out. She was to arrive in Bangalore on 26th of January. 19 long days. I was restless. I wanted to fast forward those 19 days and skip to the 26th.

We had rented a 3bhk Penthouse. The house was fully furnished. 2 rooms for guys and 1 room for the girls. It was fun to live with friends. Working at the company used to be hectic. Me, Hardik and Uzair were in HAL and the rest of them were back at Jet-Wings. I had put a leave for 5 days from 27th. The days used to be pretty hectic. We brought the booze to the appartment, as we were too lazy to go to any pub. The tiring schedule was no help either.

Some days later Hardik arrived. And another couple of days later Uzair landed. The hangouts at Mocha and Matteo were regular. I was just taking mental notes of the best places to hangout with her.

26th January 2012 : Finally the day I eagerly awaited was here. I had made a booking for her and a friend of hers in the near by hotel. The hotel was at a walking distance from my apartment. My cellphone rang. It was her. I picked up the call and directed her to a landmark nearby from the apartment. Sukhsagar Mall. It was late at night. Everything had closed. Alcohol bars had shut down. Malls closed. Streets deserted. I sat near the mall waiting for her to arrive.

Ten mins later an auto-rickshaw arrived. The cutest face peeked out of the rickshaw. She smiled. I stood up and started walking towards her. I saw her friend and greeted her with a big fake smile. I was furious about she being with her. My idea of a five day long date with her was crushed. I helped them offload their luggage from the richskaw. I paid the fare and winked at him. He smiled and drove away into the darkness. I stood there with two amazingly cute girls. But my eyes were stuck on her. Our eyes met. I smiled. We shook hands as I started blabbering about the hotels around.

I had booked an expensive one for her. But since her friend had accompanied, I bid goodbye to my little pre-planning. They asked for the safest but the cheapest hotel. I took them to a neat and tidy hotel nearby. Of course it was nowhere in the comparison to the one which I had booked. It was a bit far from my apartment but walk-able. I helped them with their luggage to the room.

I had taken a leave from the project. Hardik and Uzair co-operated. The best friends anyone can ever get. I was lucky to have them. I asked her about their interview dates. The Group Discussion was the very next day. I wished them good night and was back in my apartment. I set the alarm and tried to sleep.

The thought of spending a whole day with her, in a city where she knew no-one else but me was very exciting. I wanted to be with her. "Late at night when whole world is sleeping, I stay up and think of you. And I wish on a star that somewhere you're thinking of me, too."
